Hose compartment covers and blanking caps for Spitzer SF/SK silo semi-trailers

Hose Compartment Covers and Blanking Caps for Spitzer SF/SK Silo Semi-Trailers

The hose compartment is a recessed locker integrated into the chassis frame of Spitzer aluminium silo semi-trailers in the SF and SK series. It stores the pneumatic hoses and discharge pipes required for bulk material unloading at the destination. The compartment opening is closed with a cover or blanking cap, which holds the pipes securely in place during transit and protects the interior from dust, water and road contamination. Covers and blanking caps are therefore bodywork components associated with the carriage of ancillary equipment — they are not part of the pneumatic discharge circuit itself.

Compartments vary in diameter and in the number of pipes they accommodate, so we maintain a full range of cover and blanking cap sizes in permanent stock. Alongside the covers themselves, we also offer hose container bracket fittings and complete plastic container sets that round out the trailer’s hose and accessory carrying equipment.

In permanent stock: a full range of covers and blanking caps for hose compartments in every size (DN160, DN200 for one, two or three pipes), hose container bracket fittings (Feldbinder and Spitzer patterns) and complete plastic container sets.

Characteristics and Types

ItemSpecification
Hose compartment coversDN160, DN200 — one, two or three pipes
Hose compartment blanking capsDN160, DN200 — one, two or three pipes
Hose container bracket fittingsFeldbinder pattern, Spitzer pattern

Covers and blanking caps are selected by compartment diameter and number of pipes; bracket fittings are selected by build type (Feldbinder or Spitzer).

Sizes and Configurations

Compartment covers and blanking caps are selected according to two parameters: diameter and number of pipes.

DiameterVariant
DN160One, two or three pipes
DN200One, two or three pipes
  • DN160 — smaller compartment diameter, available for one, two or three pipes.
  • DN200 — larger compartment diameter, available for one, two or three pipes.
  • Bracket fittings — in Feldbinder pattern and Spitzer pattern.
  • Containers — complete plastic container sets.

Selection comes down to determining the compartment diameter and number of pipes; for containers, the key factor is the bracket fitting type installed on the trailer.

Compatibility with Spitzer Silo Semi-Trailers (SF/SK)

The hose compartment covers and blanking caps in our range are compatible with compartments fitted to the chassis frames of Spitzer aluminium silo semi-trailers in the SF and SK series. The complete range of DN160 and DN200 sizes, in one-, two- and three-pipe configurations, allows precise matching to any compartment regardless of its specification.

We offer hose container bracket fittings in both Feldbinder and Spitzer patterns because the container build layouts found on trailers from different manufacturers are often similar. Complete plastic container sets allow the trailer’s hose and accessory carrying equipment to be replaced or supplemented. The correct item is confirmed on the basis of the specific trailer’s build configuration.

When ordering a cover or blanking cap, the most reliable approach is to specify the compartment diameter (DN160 or DN200) together with the number of pipes it is designed to hold. If the marking is unknown, a measurement of the compartment opening and a photograph of the build are sufficient — we will identify the correct item from our full range without ambiguity. For bracket fittings and containers, the critical factor is establishing the build type (Feldbinder or Spitzer) so that the new component aligns with the existing mounting points on the trailer frame.

Common Issues in Service

In day-to-day operation, the most common problem is a cracked or lost compartment cover after years of use in road conditions. An exposed compartment opening risks the pipes falling out during transit and allows road grime and moisture to contaminate the stored hoses. A second typical situation is a damaged or loose container bracket, causing the hose container to sit unsecured on the trailer frame.

A missing or damaged cover is selected by compartment diameter (DN160 or DN200) and number of pipes. When replacing bracket fittings and containers, it is worth establishing the build type (Feldbinder or Spitzer) at the outset so the new component aligns with existing mounting points.

A third situation encountered in service is progressive cracking of the blanking cap material due to UV exposure and temperature cycling — the part becomes brittle over time and eventually fails to seat in the compartment opening. Replacing a blanking cap before it disintegrates completely is considerably easier than removing broken fragments from the socket. At the same time, it is worth checking the condition of the compartment opening itself and the bracket fittings, to ensure the new cover or container seats securely and the same failure does not recur.

Frequently Asked Questions

We hold a full range of covers and blanking caps for hose compartments in every available size: DN160 and DN200, in single-pipe, two-pipe and three-pipe configurations.

A hose compartment is a recessed locker built into the chassis frame of a silo semi-trailer for storing pneumatic hoses and discharge pipes. The cover or blanking cap closes the opening, keeping the pipes securely in place during transit and protecting the interior from dust, water and contamination.

Compartments differ in how many pipes they are designed to hold. Covers and blanking caps are selected to match the compartment — either one, two or three pipes — in diameter DN160 or DN200, ensuring a secure, tight closure of the opening.

Yes. In addition to covers and blanking caps, we stock hose container bracket fittings in both Feldbinder and Spitzer patterns, as well as complete plastic container sets.

You need to establish the compartment diameter (DN160 or DN200) and the number of pipes it is designed to hold (one, two or three). On that basis we can identify the correct cover or blanking cap from our full range. If the marking is unknown, a measurement of the compartment opening and a photo of the build are sufficient.
