Pneumatic Hoses for Spitzer SF/SK Silo Trailers
The pneumatic circuit of an aluminium Spitzer SF or SK silo trailer relies on compressed air to fluidise and convey bulk material from the tank to the discharge point. Compatibility with Spitzer Silo Trailers (SF/SK)
DN75 is the standard pneumatic bore on Spitzer SF and SK silo trailers — in this size we maintain continuous stock of the light and heavy-duty abrasive transfer hoses, the FDA food-grade hose, and the CONTI compressor hose. Where the trailer configuration or customer installation requires a larger bore, most types are available in DN100 (102 mm).
Hoses are terminated with Storz suction couplings secured using GBS clamp bands or shell clamps (DIN 2817) — the correct end fitting is selected to match the hose diameter and the valve train of the specific Spitzer trailer. The CONTI spiral compressor hose, with its universal EPM/EPDM compound and wide temperature range, performs equally well connecting the compressor to the trailer for both industrial and food-grade cargoes.
Common Failure Points on Spitzer Silo Trailers
In everyday service, abrasive material transfer hoses wear from the inside out — cement and sand abrade the inner layer, causing pressure drop and risk of blow-through. The tell-tale signs are extended unloading times and visible dust. The remedy is switching from the light version to the heavy-duty variant (11 mm wall, 12 bar).
A second recurring issue is cracking or hardening of the hose at bends when operated below the declared temperature range, along with damage to the outer layer and textile braid from chafing against bodywork. On spiral compressor hoses, spiral-coil fatigue is a known failure mode. The antistatic copper bonding wire must maintain electrical continuity — a break eliminates the hose’s antistatic properties.
