Interflange gaskets for Spitzer SF/SK silo trailers in four materials (white EPDM, black EPDM, NBR, Elapac) and sizes DN80–DN200, compatible with AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer and Feldbinder systems. The integrity of these gaskets determines the working pressure in the discharge circuit and the cleanliness of the bulk material. Standard sizes are held in stock at our facility in Chorula, Opole region, with courier dispatch to Poland and DACH countries. When ordering, specify the DN, flange system and material — a photo of the connection is sufficient if in doubt. Ask for a quote.
Introduction
On a Spitzer SF or SK silo trailer, every flange connection on the discharge pipework, manifolds and valve housings relies on an interflange gasket. It may appear a minor component, but its condition directly governs the working pressure in the pneumatic-aeration system and the cleanliness of the discharge. A leaking flange means a pressure drop, extended tank emptying times and a risk of contaminating the PE/PP granulate or bulk material being transported.
Spitzer silo trailers have flanged connections at multiple points throughout the installation: between sections of transfer pipework, at butterfly valves and other valves, and throughout the aeration system. PHS Magnum maintains a stock of interflange gaskets at Chorula, covering all common systems found on Spitzer SF/SK trailers as well as related designs (Feldbinder) that we service as part of the same fleet.
Materials and Specifications
We supply the full range of interflange and flange gaskets for all connection types used on Spitzer SF/SK silo trailers, and for AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer and Feldbinder systems.
| Material | Designation | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| White EPDM rubber | EPDM (white) | Flange connections where pigment migration must be avoided |
| Black EPDM rubber | EPDM (black) | Standard flange connections on silo trailers |
| NBR | NBR | Connections exposed to oils or greases |
| Elapac | Elapac (blue) | Alternative grade for flange connections |
EPDM is the all-round material for flange connections on silo trailers — resistant to the service conditions typical of bulk material and granulate transport. NBR is selected where the gasket may come into contact with oily substances. Elapac is an alternative grade available from our stock.
Sizes and Types
Interflange gaskets are available in all sizes corresponding to the standard flanges on Spitzer silo trailers:
| Size | Nominal Diameter |
|---|---|
| DN80 | DN80 |
| DN100 | DN100 |
| DN150 | DN150 |
| DN200 | DN200 |
The full size range covers AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer and Feldbinder systems. This means a single delivery can cover connections across different sub-assemblies in the trailer — from membrane butterfly valves to sections of the discharge pipeline.
Compatibility with Spitzer Silo Trailers (SF/SK)
Flanged connections on the SF series (non-tipping, pneumatic-aeration discharge) and the SK series (tipping, hydraulic lift tank) use interflange gaskets on transfer pipes and at valves. Because we stock gaskets in both Spitzer and Feldbinder specifications, a single part number covers both trailer brands serviced at our facility.
When selecting a gasket, the key details to provide are:
- nominal diameter of the connection (DN80–DN200),
- flange system (AKO / Prokosch / Spitzer / Feldbinder),
- material being transported (to determine EPDM / NBR / Elapac),
- Spitzer trailer model (SF or SK) and — for certainty — the VIN number.
Common Failure Modes
In service, interflange gaskets are most frequently replaced due to:
- loss of elasticity after many operating cycles — the gasket hardens and no longer seals the connection,
- air leaks manifesting as a pressure drop during discharge and longer emptying times,
- mechanical damage when pipes and flanges are separated during inspections,
- incorrect material selection — for example, fitting a gasket in a material unsuited to the medium being carried.
The accepted service practice is to replace the gasket every time a flange connection is opened — reusing a removed gasket significantly increases the risk of leakage.
For quick fault-finding before a workshop visit, the table below maps symptoms to likely causes:
| Symptom | Most Likely Cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure drop during discharge | Air leak at flange connection | Replace gasket, check flange bolt torque |
| Extended tank emptying time | Leak in transfer circuit | Inspect gaskets at pipe sections |
| Audible air hiss at flange | Hardened or cracked gasket | Replace with new, correct material |
| Leak after recent service | Removed gasket reused | Fit new gasket |
| Hardening / crumbling of material | Natural wear after many cycles | Replace, select EPDM/NBR/Elapac to suit medium |
Material selection (EPDM, NBR, Elapac) and the correct flange system are covered in the Materials and Specifications and Compatibility with Spitzer Silo Trailers sections above. Gaskets are often supplied together with AKO membrane butterfly valves and Ebro butterfly valves, which use the same flange connections.
