Flange gaskets for Spitzer SF/SK silo trailers — EPDM, NBR, Elapac, PHS Magnum parts stock

At a Glance

Interflange gaskets for Spitzer SF/SK silo trailers in four materials (white EPDM, black EPDM, NBR, Elapac) and sizes DN80–DN200, compatible with AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer and Feldbinder systems. The integrity of these gaskets determines the working pressure in the discharge circuit and the cleanliness of the bulk material. Standard sizes are held in stock at our facility in Chorula, Opole region, with courier dispatch to Poland and DACH countries. When ordering, specify the DN, flange system and material — a photo of the connection is sufficient if in doubt. Ask for a quote.

Introduction

On a Spitzer SF or SK silo trailer, every flange connection on the discharge pipework, manifolds and valve housings relies on an interflange gasket. It may appear a minor component, but its condition directly governs the working pressure in the pneumatic-aeration system and the cleanliness of the discharge. A leaking flange means a pressure drop, extended tank emptying times and a risk of contaminating the PE/PP granulate or bulk material being transported.

Spitzer silo trailers have flanged connections at multiple points throughout the installation: between sections of transfer pipework, at butterfly valves and other valves, and throughout the aeration system. PHS Magnum maintains a stock of interflange gaskets at Chorula, covering all common systems found on Spitzer SF/SK trailers as well as related designs (Feldbinder) that we service as part of the same fleet.

Materials and Specifications

We supply the full range of interflange and flange gaskets for all connection types used on Spitzer SF/SK silo trailers, and for AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer and Feldbinder systems.

MaterialDesignationTypical Application
White EPDM rubberEPDM (white)Flange connections where pigment migration must be avoided
Black EPDM rubberEPDM (black)Standard flange connections on silo trailers
NBRNBRConnections exposed to oils or greases
ElapacElapac (blue)Alternative grade for flange connections

EPDM is the all-round material for flange connections on silo trailers — resistant to the service conditions typical of bulk material and granulate transport. NBR is selected where the gasket may come into contact with oily substances. Elapac is an alternative grade available from our stock.

Sizes and Types

Interflange gaskets are available in all sizes corresponding to the standard flanges on Spitzer silo trailers:

SizeNominal Diameter
DN80DN80
DN100DN100
DN150DN150
DN200DN200

The full size range covers AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer and Feldbinder systems. This means a single delivery can cover connections across different sub-assemblies in the trailer — from membrane butterfly valves to sections of the discharge pipeline.

Compatibility with Spitzer Silo Trailers (SF/SK)

Flanged connections on the SF series (non-tipping, pneumatic-aeration discharge) and the SK series (tipping, hydraulic lift tank) use interflange gaskets on transfer pipes and at valves. Because we stock gaskets in both Spitzer and Feldbinder specifications, a single part number covers both trailer brands serviced at our facility.

When selecting a gasket, the key details to provide are:

  • nominal diameter of the connection (DN80–DN200),
  • flange system (AKO / Prokosch / Spitzer / Feldbinder),
  • material being transported (to determine EPDM / NBR / Elapac),
  • Spitzer trailer model (SF or SK) and — for certainty — the VIN number.

Common Failure Modes

In service, interflange gaskets are most frequently replaced due to:

  • loss of elasticity after many operating cycles — the gasket hardens and no longer seals the connection,
  • air leaks manifesting as a pressure drop during discharge and longer emptying times,
  • mechanical damage when pipes and flanges are separated during inspections,
  • incorrect material selection — for example, fitting a gasket in a material unsuited to the medium being carried.

The accepted service practice is to replace the gasket every time a flange connection is opened — reusing a removed gasket significantly increases the risk of leakage.

For quick fault-finding before a workshop visit, the table below maps symptoms to likely causes:

SymptomMost Likely CauseAction
Pressure drop during dischargeAir leak at flange connectionReplace gasket, check flange bolt torque
Extended tank emptying timeLeak in transfer circuitInspect gaskets at pipe sections
Audible air hiss at flangeHardened or cracked gasketReplace with new, correct material
Leak after recent serviceRemoved gasket reusedFit new gasket
Hardening / crumbling of materialNatural wear after many cyclesReplace, select EPDM/NBR/Elapac to suit medium

Material selection (EPDM, NBR, Elapac) and the correct flange system are covered in the Materials and Specifications and Compatibility with Spitzer Silo Trailers sections above. Gaskets are often supplied together with AKO membrane butterfly valves and Ebro butterfly valves, which use the same flange connections.

Availability and Dispatch

Standard sizes DN80–DN200 in white and black EPDM, NBR and Elapac are held in stock at our facility in Chorula, Opole region. Other configurations are sourced from direct supply. Courier dispatch throughout Poland and to DACH countries. To select the right gasket for a specific connection on your Spitzer trailer, ask for a quote.

Contact

To identify the right gasket for a specific connection on your Spitzer trailer — ask for a quote, quoting the DN, flange system and SF/SK model (or a photo of the connection). Standard EPDM, NBR and Elapac sizes are dispatched from stock at Chorula, Opole region, to Poland and DACH countries.

Frequently Asked Questions

We stock gaskets in four materials: white EPDM rubber, black EPDM rubber, NBR and Elapac (blue). EPDM is suitable for most flange connections on Spitzer silo trailers; NBR is the right choice where the gasket may come into contact with oils or greases. The correct material depends on the bulk material being transported and the operating temperature.

We carry the full range: DN80, DN100, DN150 and DN200 — these are the standard flange diameters used on Spitzer SF and SK silo trailers. They are compatible with AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer and Feldbinder systems.

Yes. Interflange gaskets are used at AKO and Prokosch membrane butterfly valve connections, and at valves on the discharge pipework of Spitzer silo trailers. When ordering, please specify the system (AKO/Prokosch/Spitzer/Feldbinder) and the nominal diameter (DN).

Both grades share the same fundamental chemical and temperature resistance; the colour primarily denotes the production batch. White EPDM is specified where pigment migration into the product must be avoided. The precise choice depends on the specific application in the trailer.

Standard sizes DN80–DN200 in EPDM, NBR and Elapac are held in stock at our facility in Chorula, Opole region. Other configurations are sourced directly from our suppliers. Courier dispatch throughout Poland and to DACH countries.

Typical signs are a drop in working pressure during discharge, longer tank emptying times and an audible air leak at the flange joint. A gasket that has hardened, cracked or lost its elasticity will no longer seal the connection. As a service rule, the gasket should always be replaced whenever a flange connection is opened.

We do not recommend it. Once a flange connection is undone, the gasket is already deformed at the compression point, and reuse significantly increases the risk of leakage. The service standard is to fit a new gasket every time a flange is separated — this is cheaper than a repeat strip-down due to a fresh leak.

When ordering, just provide the nominal diameter (DN80–DN200), the Spitzer trailer model (SF or SK) and, for certainty, the VIN — we will identify the correct system (AKO, Prokosch, Spitzer or Feldbinder) and recommend the appropriate material. If in doubt, a photo of the flange connection is very helpful.
