Hose Clamps on Spitzer SF/SK Silo Trailers
Every hose-to-fitting connection on an aluminium Spitzer SF or SK silo trailer depends on a secure, airtight clamp. The clamps and split clamps securing the transfer or compressor hose to the Storz suction couplings operate under pressure and constant vibration; the right choice and condition of each clamping element directly affects the airtightness of the pneumatic circuit. An incorrectly selected or corroded clamp is one of the most common causes of air blow-by and dusting during discharge.
Our range covers three core groups of fastening components: GBS-type hose clamps for industrial and compressor hose assembly, split clamps for smooth suction couplings designed for split-clamp fitting, and worm-drive and double-bolt clamps for industrial and automotive connections. A Spitzer SF/SK service technician can therefore source the complete assembly — hose, suction coupling, and fastening element — all correctly matched in size and material.
The standard hose size on Spitzer silo trailers is DN75, for which we maintain permanent stock of GBS clamps and split clamps in size 75x10. The standard GBS specification is fully galvanised steel (W1) with a hexagonal bolt class 8.8, conforming to DIN 3017. Where operating conditions or the material being conveyed require greater corrosion resistance, we supply stainless and acid-resistant clamps (W2, W4) and stainless split clamps.

Worm-Drive and Double-Bolt Clamps
Full range of worm-drive and double-bolt (double-sided) clamps for assembly of every type of industrial and automotive hose.
Sizes and Types
GBS clamps are available in sizes from 17 mm to 130 mm, in standard W1 specification as well as stainless and acid-resistant grades (W2, W4). The correct GBS clamp size is determined by the outside diameter of the hose pushed onto the Storz suction coupling spigot. The table below shows typical hose diameters and the corresponding Storz coupling sizes for GBS clamp assembly:
| Storz Coupling Size | Hose Diameter | Seal |
|---|---|---|
| C (52) | 50 mm | black NBR |
| B (75) | 75 mm | black NBR |
| A (110) | 100 mm | black NBR |
| A (110) | 110 mm | black NBR |
Split clamps are held in permanent stock in size 75x10 for DN75 hose; all other sizes and forms (aluminium, stainless steel, incl. 75x8) are supplied on direct delivery for any hose type.
Compatibility with Spitzer Silo Trailers (SF/SK)
GBS clamps and split clamps are matched to the hose diameter and type of Storz suction coupling fitted to Spitzer SF and SK silo trailers. For the standard DN75 hose, size 75x10 is a standing stock item — it fits smooth suction couplings for split-clamp assembly per DIN 2817. Suction couplings designed for GBS clamp fitting are secured with GBS clamps sized to the outside diameter of the hose with the coupling in place.
The choice of steel grade (W1 galvanised vs W2/W4 stainless) is governed by the working environment: W1 is adequate for typical dry bulk loads; stainless and acid-resistant steel is specified for corrosive conditions or contact with aggressive substances.
Common Faults on Spitzer Silo Trailers
In day-to-day service work, the most frequent cause of leaks at hose-to-coupling joints is an under-torqued or corroded GBS clamp — evident as air blow-by and dusting under pressure. Galvanised W1 clamps in harsh environments corrode over time; upgrading to W2/W4 stainless is the recommended remedy.
With split clamp connections, typical problems are uneven bolt torque or bolt corrosion, leading to leaks and the risk of the hose working loose. At every hose change, inspect the full set of 2 split clamps + 4 bolts + 4 nuts and replace any components showing signs of corrosion. Worm-drive clamps with fatigue in the band or worm mechanism should be replaced as a preventive measure.
