Storz System in Spitzer SF/SK Silo Trailers

The Storz coupling system is the industry-standard quick-connect solution for suction and pressure lines on Spitzer aluminium silo trailers. On SF and SK series trailers it covers the entire pneumatic circuit — from the compressor coupling through transfer hoses to the discharge manifold. The bayonet-style Storz fitting lets an operator connect or disconnect a line with a single quarter-turn and no tools, which matters operationally when handling 200 tonnes of bulk material per day.

Our range covers the complete Storz system tailored to Spitzer silo trailer fleets: couplings (fittings) with internal or external thread in fixed and swivel versions, suction connectors for GBS clamp or shell clamp hose mounting, blanking caps, reducers, and a full selection of seals. This allows a Spitzer SF/SK technician to source an entire coupling assembly from a single supplier, removing the risk of mismatched lug spacing or incompatible seal materials.

Compatibility with Spitzer SF/SK Silo Trailers

The Storz components in our range match the factory-fitted standard on Spitzer aluminium silo trailers series SF and SK (manufactured in Elztal-Dallau). Lug spacing and thread types (internal/external, inch dimensions) replicate the configurations found on these vehicles, so couplings, caps and reducers fit without any modification to existing pipework.

For suction connections with a transfer hose we select the appropriate connector based on hose diameter and preferred mounting method (GBS clamps or DIN 2817 shell clamps). On Spitzer silo trailers operating a pneumatic conveying circuit, DN75 hose is the standard, and we maintain ready stock of connectors and 75x10 shell clamps accordingly.

Material selection is guided by the cargo being carried: AK 11 aluminium with NBR seal is adequate for PE/PP granulate and typical bulk dry goods; brass, stainless steel and Viton seals are specified for food-grade or chemical applications.

Common Faults on Spitzer Silo Trailers

In service practice, the most frequent cause of Storz leaks on Spitzer silo trailers is a worn or hardened seal — typically presenting as air hiss and dust blow-by at the joint during discharge. Replacing the NBR or Viton seal with the correct size (C, B, A or larger) restores a sound connection in most cases.

The second common fault is lug damage or wear from repeated coupling cycles, along with galvanic corrosion at the aluminium-to-steel interface. On GBS-clamp suction connectors, loose or corroded clamps are a recurring issue — replacement of the full clamp-and-seal set is the recommended fix. Smooth-shank connectors on shell clamps should be checked for clamp condition and bolt torque.
