Is a new TDT inspection required after repair?

Aluminium tank repairs

Aluminium is lightweight and corrosion-resistant but susceptible to dents and weld fatigue.

Dents and deformations: Straightened mechanically if weld is not affected. At weld areas: controlled heating and straightening.

Weld cracks:

PT inspection to determine crack extent
Grinding to clean metal
TIG welding (ER4043 or ER5356 electrode)
Post-weld PT inspection
Pressure test (3 bar)
Extraordinary TDT inspection

Section replacement: Cut damaged section, insert new material (EN AW-5083 aluminium), circumferential TIG welds, NDT inspection.

Painting and renovation

Surface preparation (degreasing, sanding), epoxy aluminium primer, polyurethane or acrylic topcoat. Available in RAL colours. Company logos and lettering possible.
